NOTE TO SELF
Just because I no longer have to keep up with this Journal for a grade does not mean I will abandon it. :) Last Tumblr Blog sitting at this desk before moving out tomorrow.
I love wildlife photography. I can spend hours looking at pictures of wildlife and still be amazed one picture after another. I love how that moment is captured without being posed or rehearsed. Its just natural. It must be exciting to be a wildlife photographer and not know what you may capture that day.
This is my dog named Daisy. I discovered her in my backyard one afternoon after a hard day of school as a 1st grader. She passed away when I was 20 years old and it was one of the worst experiences. Last night I dreamed about her for the second time since she’s been gone. I knew she was dead in my dream but she was so happy and I as I hugged her I made sure I didn’t squeeze her too hard because I was afraid she would die again. When I think about her now I only think about happy things. She’s the reason I want to help as many unfortunate animals as I can. I now own 4 dogs and one cat. It’s a start
This is a photograph of Black Hole of Calcutta by Casten Peter. I shared this not only because it’s a great photo but because it reminds me of the life of adventure I one day hope to have. I think that’s one of the neat things about photography, it can really inspire people. I at least know it has that impact on me.
I can almost hear the childrens laughter and see them skipping around with these ribbons. For me it helps that it is in black and white because I can build my own story around this, imagine the colors and the enviroment.
I love these pictures. I love how the black bacground makes the colors pop and how the parrot seems to be flying downward and we are not able to see its head. I love how these birds with their natural colors were made into art.
I put this image of this mango tree because it reminds me of one of my favorite memories as a child. One summer my mother sent my siblings and me to spend it with our grandparents in Mexico. My grandfather would take us around town showing us his different land. My favorite place was a forest of mango trees with a stream running through it. We would spend hours taking down mangos and eating them next to the stream washing up afterwards.
I had to share this because I couldn’t stop starring at it. What held my attention was the woman’s eyes staring back. I thought her eyes were very mysterious. I of course love the art and its purpose to camouflage. The detail on the painted bodies is amazing. To think someone sees the human body and think of a canvas is intriguing.
As a child my father took my younger sister and I to Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City. I had been to Mexico several times before but at 8 years old it was my first time to Chapultepec. One thing that I always remember about the castle are the murals. The mural that had the most impact on me was the mural of the young soldier who wrapped the Mexican flag around him and jumped to his death to prevent its capture from the U.S. I remember being so intrigued by all the stories my father would tell me as we walked through the castle. It was one of the best moments I shared with my father. I could tell he was as excited to share his knowledge of the history as I was to hear it.
When I first saw this it reminded me of the few years I worked at a public school and the several complaints I got from certain parents about teachers that their child was not passing the class. After what I saw I cant help but agree with this cartoon.
